  18. ‚Ä¢ PostScript: this is the default way of saving an AI file: the quickest and most efficient storage. If you know PostScript programming, you can even change this file with any text editor.
  19. ‚Ä¢ However, if you place an AI PostScript file into a page layout program, you only get a gray box with no indication of how it looks.
  20. ‚Ä¢ Second format: Encapsulated PostScript Format (EPS or EPSF).
  21. ‚Ä¢ Takes longer to save and creates bigger files. But, when placed in page layout program, it gives you a graphic image that lets you see how cropping or resizing is changing your illustration.
  22. ‚Ä¢ The third format, EPSF for IBM PC, lets you place AI files in PC PageMaker or Ventura Publisher, or other PC layout programs that accept EPSF.
